Black Star is a fragrance by Avril Lavigne. The line includes, besides the 10ml, 15ml, 30ml, 50ml and 100ml eau de parfum, a shower gel, a body lotion, and a spray deodorant.A mini shower gel comes exclusively with a Black Star gift set available in the UK, and in the German/Dutch giftset a 50ml body lotion is also included. "Black Star" was composed in a Malaysian hotel during The Best Damn Tour.
The intention was for it to be just a short theme song for the fragrance, but has since developed into, as Rolling Stone describes it, "one of Lavigne's most
ambitious songs, an etherea
l lullaby that turns epic with Coldplay-like pianos and soaring strings". Lavigne has said to be thinking about releasing the song as a single, claiming it had "the same effect on my friends as Girlfriend did".
In May 2010, Lavigne stated via her official website that Black Star had been nominated for a FiFi Award in the "Fragrance of the Year- Women's Popular Appeal" category.
Later in the same month, Lavigne also stated that the fragrance has won an award for "Best Fragrance" from Cosmetic Executive Women.
